Making artichokes is not a difficult process. The taste of this
wonderful vegetable is something that many people find appealing and
artichokes are becoming a favorite dish. They can be cooked in a
several different ways. You can choose to boil an artichoke. You might
want to bake one or roast it. They can be stuffed with your favorite
filling. Boiling is an easy to way to cook an artichoke and anyone can
do it.
Before you boil your artichokes, you have to prepare them. You
should give them a good wash in cold water, using a brush on the
outside of the artichoke to make them completely clean and ready to be
boiled. There are a few cuts that you will have to make on the
artichoke, but these will only take a few minutes to do. Once you have
your artichoke clean and cut, you are ready to boil it.
If you do not know how to boil an artichoke, you do not have to
worry. The steps are not difficult for you to follow. You start with a
pot full of boiling and salted water. Then you just put your prepared
artichoke into the water. Artichokes tend to float while cooking, so
you might want to put a smaller lid on top of the artichoke to keep it
under the water while it boils. This is not a necessary step, as your
artichoke is going to cook with or without something to keep it under
the water. But it might make the process a little bit faster.
Then just cover the pot with its own lid and let it boil
away. Boiling time can vary, depending on the size of the artichoke. A
medium sized one takes about thirty minutes. So, depending on how big
or small your artichoke is will determine how long it needs to
boil. You will know it is done when you can put a knife through the
base easily, much like a soft baked potato. Just pull your artichoke
out of the water and stick a knife into the base. If it goes in
easily, the artichoke is done. If it does not go in with ease, throw
it back into the water and let it boil some more. Once it is done, it
will be ready to eat
